HISTORY OF SİVRİHİSAR
Sivrihisar is the largest district of Eskişehir. It is claimed that very important Turkish elders such as Nasreddin Hodja, Yunus Emre, Aziz Mahmut Hüdai came from this district. 120 km from Ankara. 90 km from Eskişehir. away.

Standing at the intersection of Ankara, Eskişehir and Izmir roads, Sivrihisar draws attention first with its high, sharp cliffs that reach up to the sky like spears. These cliffs give the city its name. Among the rocks, stone streets and old houses are just the visible side. The city, whose origins date back to Etiler, the first Turkish civilization in Anatolia, smells of history. Sivrihisar, which has all the features of typical Anatolian cities, is also the hometown of the famous king Midas.
Its name, which was "Sallpa" during the Etiler period, turned into "Spalya" when the Phrygians settled in 700 BC. Another feature of the city is that it is located on the famous King's Road of that period. The King's Road passes through Pessinus within the district borders. 10 km from the city. "Pessinus" located in the south is Ballıhisar Village, whose livelihood is now based on agriculture and animal husbandry. During the Byzantine period, it was named JUSTINIANAPOLIS. JUSTINIAN, the most powerful emperor of Byzantium, gave his name to our district and made it the center of Christianity. M.S. In 800, he served as bishop and then as metropolitan. Artifacts related to this period are in our district. It is known that after the Seljuks settled in Sivrihisar in 1074, the name of the district was KARAHİSAR. Many mosques, madrasahs and baths were built in this period.
Sivrihisar came under Ottoman rule in 1289. After a while, Osman Bey gave the administration of the entire Eskişehir region, including Sivrihisar, to his brother Gündüz Bey. About 3000 Turkmen tribes were settled in the surrounding area. The lineage of the people of Sivrihisar is the continuation of the Oghuz Turkmen tribe. Oguz tribes and their branches coming to Sivrihisar; Karkın, Kınık, Alaçat or Aliço, İmralı, İmur, Yolemir, Beydili, Yazır, Buğdüz tribes are Avşar, Kılıç, Kırgız, Köseler, Sazılar Tribes.
